Retest

Price returning to a level it just broke, to check whether that level now holds as new support or resistance.

A real breakout often retests the broken level and holds there. A fakeout retests and keeps failing, continuing in the original direction instead. Watching what happens at the retest is one of the clearest ways to tell the two apart.
